Things That Impress You In A Candidate: I'm always attracted to a well written resume however; the most important thing I look for in a candidate is their ability to clearly communicate what they've done and learned about past work experiences and how that may translate into a new career choice. People who are genuine and that share those genuine life stories with us always seem to be the employees that fit in nicely. A good work ethic is something that is passed down from one generation to the next. It can be taught later in life however, more times than not its those people who had good parents who taught them the value of things earned who ultimately do the most good. I never forget candidates with manners or candidates who simply take a moment to write a thank you note to us. It's the small things like a thank you note that speak volumes for a candidates character. Things Candidates Must Include To Be Considered For Job: We like to see a resume along with several work related references. We do check these. Always. It's nice to hear from references who can speak about your past successes and who can provide us insight on how you dealt with adversity as well. Not all past work experiences will be a positive experience for people. Learning about how a candidate overcomes adversity and how they deal with change is powerful. Things That Will Disqualify A Candidate From Getting Considered: Lying about dates of employment is a biggie. Dependable and ethically sound recruiters will dot their I's and cross their T's when going through the pre-employment screening process.
