Preferred Process For Following Up On Application: Give me a call or send me an email! We get dozens of resumes a day, so it can be tricky to keep up with them, but we do want to talk to you!

Things That Impress You In A Candidate: Passion and drive; someone who is committed to making a difference in the lives of others. This doesn’t mean I especially look for someone with work experience, but someone who has given/continues to give their time and energy to others and finds human services rewarding.

Things Candidates Must Include To Be Considered For Job: Always apply with complete resume! Don’t summarize your resume, just keep it neat and balanced. And never apply to a job with a short cover letter with “resume on request.” It comes off as pretentious and is confusing to a recruiter. Don’t be afraid to customize your resume for particular jobs; if you want to highlight your volunteer work when applying for a social service job, and your customer service experience for a retail position, that’s fine! (Just don’t get them mixed up!)

Things That Will Disqualify A Candidate From Getting Considered: We are very open to considering all candidates, but please make sure you have a general understanding of our agency and our available positions. I love to help people find the career that they love, but I can’t create your ideal job for you. Applying for a multitude of jobs within our agency at the same time can potentially be an issue — since many of our jobs are very different (in levels of education, skills and qualities needed). If a candidate applies to 2-3 similar jobs, that is fine; I even make sure they are considered for their choice pick first. But when someone applies to many different positions, ranging from high school level to Master’s level position, then I don’t get the feeling a candidate has paid attention to our jobs.
