For Job Candidates

Preferred Method To Be Contacted By A Candidate: Email

Preferred Process For Following Up On Application: It is best to follow up via email. I am not always at my desk, and am not so great at returning calls

Things That Impress You In A Candidate: I always look for a well written cover letter. Not everyone submits one, but if you do and it’s poorly written or is very cookie-cutter, that’s no good. A hand written follow up after an interview is very impressive (I keep them on my bulletin board!). Follow up should happen after a phone interview AND an in-person interview. I hold on to it, it makes me smile, and even if you don’t get the job this time, I’m far more likely to reach out to you again if your ‘thank you’ is sitting in front of me!

Things Candidates Must Include To Be Considered For Job: Our application must be completed in it’s entirety – when fields are missing, even if they are not “required”, it seems like you’re cutting corners. Filling out our application only takes 10 minutes, so cutting corners is no good!

Things That Will Disqualify A Candidate From Getting Considered: Honesty is key – if there are pre-screen questions included in the application, don’t lie. If I ask how much experience you have in XYZ and you select 5+ years but I don’t see it on your resume, you get disqualified. Poor grammar and spelling is a big red flag and may not get you disqualified immediately, but I’m on my guard about everything else you submit or say going forward.

Can Candidates Apply For Multiple Positions And Not Get Penalized?: Yes
