How Do I Make Most of Degree and Experience?

Dear Experts, I have degrees in architecture, and years of experience, but am not a licensed architect and no longer want to be. I want to develop the business side of my credentials, hopefully down the road heading into economic development. It has been hard to break from the past of being a CAD draftsman, and convince people I am capable of much more. I recently sent a resume for an administrative assistant position in an architectural-related company. What's a good way to start over from the ground up, where my past experience is somewhat useful?
