No matter how focused we are at work, sometimes we just space out for a few minutes. Is that such a bad thing?
Why Taking a Break is Good for Your Health
Bigstock
The truth is, we can't be on ALL the time. Taking breaks is healthy. Studies show that when employees take short breaks throughout the work day, they recharge their "mental" batteries, and, therefore, come back to their desk feeling more focused and energized and less fatigued.
Some breaks are better than others, though. Next time you take a break at work, don't vent about a problem to a colleague or stay inside and have another cup of coffee. Those behaviors don't actually make you feel re-energized because you're not detaching from work.
Taking a break means fully detaching from the task at hand.
Detaching ourselves from work and letting our thoughts move to positive places is not a bad thing. It's good for our mental health and our productivity.
So, where does YOUR mind go when you daydream?
