As a total career nerd, I’m obsessed with learning more about the behind-the-scenes happenings at companies. I love seeing people’s eyes light up when they talk about where they work - I mean, shouldn’t you get excited about going to work everyday and talking about your job? Absolutely. This week, I learned about the company, Greatist, an fitness, health, and happiness Internet media startup founded in 2011. I got a hold of Greatist’s Director of Office Operations, Amanda Delaney, to get the inside scoop on the company’s culture. Here are some of her favorite things about working at Greatist:
1. They’ve got creative team activities.
At Greatist, employees get to enjoy fun team activities on a regular basis. One of those activities is Test Kitchen. Employees split up into two groups, everyone gets a secret ingredient, and then the teams have to create a dish using that secret ingredient. Dishes are judged on creativity, taste, presentation, and health. “My favorite test kitchen was when I had everyone make cookies without googling measurements,” said Delaney. “It gets pretty competitive and I'm always blown away by the team’s culinary skills!”
