I Think My Boss is Jealous of Me

Dear Experts, I believe my immediate boss at work is jealous of me. I've been working at the same firm for two years now and it always seemed my boss's superior was more fond of me than him. I've noticed it, my co-workers have noticed it and especially my boss has noticed it. I think it's finally taking a toll on my boss because lately he has been treating me differently (e.g. giving me unimportant and monotonous tasks). Is there any easy way for me to talk to my boss to see if something is wrong with his and I relationship? I really enjoy my job and don't want something like this affecting it in a negative way. Here is how our T.A.P. experts answered this question: Q#224 I'd try talking to him about the work you have been assigned. Then, if it comes up, you can discuss your relationship. (@gradversity) Q#224 Focus on dev'g relationship w/ur boss: compliment him, notice & do things, thank him 4 assignments. (@juliaerickson) Q#224 If approach doesn't work, look 4 opps in company 2 move up, out from under boss - he may never change. (@juliaerickson) Q#224 ID & volunteer for bigger projects. Do more than expected. B sure UR perception isn't jading reality. (@dawnbugni) (2 of 2) Q#224 Keep communication upbeat & encouraging w/ boss. He owns the problem. Don't feed it or feed into it. (@dawnbugni) (1 of 2) Q#224 I'd skip talk & focus on praising your boss for his contribution to your professional growth in front of his boss.
