Job Board Detox Tip #3: Make a List of Your 'Must-Haves'
Today's job board detox tip: Make a list of your “must-haves.” Must-haves are the items that no matter where you go you need to have. For instance, do you need flexibility, certain culture, short commute, and so on? What kind of colleagues do you want to work with? What size and kind of company do you want to be a part of? Generally I suggest a list of 3-5 must-haves. Anything beyond that is a request and must be prioritized as well. Making these kinds of lists and taking the time to think through these questions will help you to be intentional in your job search, not hap-hazard. It will help you to make better decisions as to where to spend your time searching and when you get down to reviewing offers, pros, and cons.
