Dear Experts, My company just instituted a new policy. They are going to charge any company that calls to do a reference check on a former employee $13. Is that legal? It's like they are holding my employment history hostage. Will potential employers bother to pay or will they just decide not to bother with me? Our Twitter Advice Project (T.A.P.) is no longer an active campaign. To find an answer to the above question, please use the "Search" box in the right-hand column of this website.
