Want to know my greatest fear?
That I’ll be lying on my deathbed, and look back on my life thinking I did it all wrong.

Like Sam Walton, billionaire founder of Wal-Mart, who said on his death bed: “I blew it."
Why?
Well, no one can contend that Walton was one of the greatest business people of all time. But apparently, he didn’t show up that way for his family and friends.
And he regretted it.
What a shame, isn’t it? To work so hard your entire life because you believe in something. You love it. It’s your passion, and it consumes you… and then to realize at the end that you were playing the wrong game the entire time.
Because that’s the question we’re all trying to answer, isn’t it?
How do I want to spend my life? What is real success?
Well, in my search for an answer - a guiding compass for my own life and career - I came across a man named Brendon Burchard a few years back.
He nearly died in a car accident and, when he woke up, he realized that he hadn’t been living life as well as he could be.
However, three powerful questions had come to him during the experience, and been ingrained in his mind. They’ve guided his life ever since, and - through his bestselling books - touched the lives of thousands of other people as well.
These three questions are the best daily “career compass” I’ve found to seek true success and avoid realizing too late that you’ve done it all wrong... and I think they might resonate with you as well. Here they are:
The 3 Simple “Career Compass” Questions You Need To Achieve REAL Success
Question #1: Did I Live?
"Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows."
- Pope Paul VI
Simple. Powerful. Inspiring.
So every night, at the end of the day before you go to bed… ask yourself, “Did I live today?”
If the answer is “no” for too many days in a row, then it’s time for a change.
Question #2: Did I Love?
This is where it seems Sam Walton thinks he missed the mark.
You can have the most amazing adventures in your life…
Make a ton of money…
And be passionate about what you do…
But at the end of the day, it’s all about relationships. It’s all about love.
So, question #2 to ask yourself tonight is, “Did I love?”
Question #3: Did I Matter?
Service, contribution, and a feeling that
what you’re doing matters has been proven to make people happier.
Obviously, we all spend the majority of our time at work. And now more than ever it’s easier to find a job with a company that’s doing good things in the world - where you can feel like
what you’re doing matters.
